    The monitor isn't the problem. It is a typical Colour CTM.... from the Amstrad CPC series and as I have mentioned before the lightguns do work from time to time but I cannot figure out what is the problem for that?

    Yes...2 bits per color...

    You could use the 14MHz clock also for VGA if you're using normal CRT monitor as long as you meet the H/V timing requirements. But you would then have a slightly distorted picture.
