Off the top of my head - enter CAT 1 (CAT = extend mode, symbol shift, 9). Without an IF1 it'll give you a flashing question mark; with an IF1 it will probably give you an error about no microdrive being found. -

No, nobody ever used them at all.
Even the demostration carts you got with the IF1 were just blank, as Sinclair never really intended them to be actually used.
