    I don't see any reason you couldn't get an interrupt between the RET and the LD IY. Looks like a classic race condition to me.

    Aha, we've found one :)

    Indeedy, Ninja Warriors has it's interrupt routine in a contended RAM page on the 128/+2 (page 1).

    It shouldn't crash but the display will be corrupt.

    Nope, the Beta sure seems to be want that IM1 mode. I've just tried to run a TR-DOS routine while in IM2 with the vector pointed to a "EI; RET" routine. It didn't work.
