I was using the correct computer for each version. Someone recommended using Sinclair but I did not realise Kempston might not work.

I know for a fact that up and left was always seen as the input when I'd select Kempston joystick as the input on my +3 - I never had a Kempston I just tried it out for the hell of it. None of the emulators do this for me though. -

It will work but the cursor joystick interface won't. Some of the earlier made ones could conflict with other hardware although it isn't likely.

I thought only the multiface 3 was made for the +2A/+3. I have a Protek switched interface for kempston/cursor/sinclair that works plugged straight on. cursor and sinclair cannot work since the ula overrides.

No driver is needed. Probably any Kempston interface will do plugged straight on.

Plug your Kempston interface into +3, switch the computer on, and type:

If you move stick or press fire, the values on screen should change. The +2A sinclair ports are wired the Amstrad way. Your kempston interface is probably the Atari way which almost everything is. The SJS1 joysticks sold with spectrums wouldn't work on Atari ports.

I only know of the AMX and Kempston mice for the Spectrum, neither of them had fantastic support, I only wanted mine back then for use with Art Studio.
