All 128K machines have the colour bar screen which you can access with reset+break; only the +2A/+3 have the full QAZPLM test suite. Im no expert but id definitely have a look at the keyboard membrane, also check that no gunk or rubbish has collected under the keyboard, basically, give it a good internal clean up and try again before ordering new membranes etc
