POKE 23756,0 (and 23755) only work on a 48K Standard machine. If you use IF1 you need to poke another adress. You need to find start of BASIC first, which is different due to more SYSTEM VARS. -

The timer value is stored at 56634.
So using POKE 56634,255 will give you a lot of time
