I was thinking the same thing about the Master System...
it's one of my favorite machines (I like it much more than the NES).
It has USB port to recharge the controllers... maybe it can be used to upload roms? -

I used to use a master system controller and yes it works fine but only one fire button - it is A or B though, not just the start button, so very usable. There's a nice SMS joystick available as well... never had one. -

Joypad from SEGA MASTER SYSTEM is usable also on DIVMMC interface as joystick with two buttons (B and C).
I have also modified GAL chip on DIVMMC interface for full support of SEGA joypad buttons (support all 8 buttons). :-) -
