    The z88dk, using C's stdio, should not have a problem with random access to files on supported filesystems. The standard IO library already has things like fseek() and of course, a file is just a stream in C, not something that has to be loaded as a block.

    The obvious problem with converting any random access media (eg disk) to serial access media (eg tape) is that there's no way of knowing what order to put the files on the tape. If you can solve that problem, it's easy.
