Though there is some ULA schematic out there using normal TTL chips....

I guessed that it would be FPGA based ;)

Interfacing the Video memory is not a problem. It's generating all the VGA signals including timing circuits that would be nice to have a schematic to look at.

Do you have a copy of the Video memory in the FPGA ? How often is it updated ?

Video memory is in parallel to external SRAM...so if CPU writes between 16384 and 23295 the data is also copied into FPGA Dual-port RAM.
