    Those are all powers of two multiplied by a constant, not powers of 3, 5, 7 etc.

    I happened to multiply by 10 or divide by ten when I was displaying numbers like time or energy in a game.

    It guess you basically use it when you need input/output in decimal.

    But yes, it was neither often nor time critical.
