    Thanks Nathan. Looks like it is probably the LOAD routines that I am doing are impacting FRAMES then. As I am only loading from RAM disk (LOAD !".." DATA etc.) I assume this must issue a DI under the covers too?

    Mmm, thought I had found the problem i.e. I have the tight loop at lines 830-860 below and before I was displaying the current time each itteration. I wondered if the MicroPrint MCODE routine might have DI in it so I change the loop to the code below... ...

    Thanks Nathan. So being blunt it is not really possible to have a totally accurate clock on the Spectrum. Not a problem - just glad to know what I am dealing with.
