I can't see why it would be your specific version of the game that doesn't work, protected or not.

Does everything work OK with other games that give you the option to use a Kempston or is R-Type the only one it doesn't work with?

The R-Type code wasn't changed after ... the auto-select works with R-Type.

Thanks for mentioning it, I might have to give Rainbow Islands a go again, and where is R-Type?!? Grr... can't find it, and it's not the same on an emulator.

My 48k only R-Type doesn't have the duplication error. I got my copy from the home computer club.

I completed the whole game within a few hours of first playing it. It was too easy.
