    Looking at schematics it has to be simple solution, probably king of interleaving, but I could not find any details.

    Pentagon RAM was built using Russian 16x4164 chips, so no surprise here.
    I was told long ago, that memory contention in ZX is result of poor design and lack of knowledge of RAM access. So it has to be just smart usage of bus cycles.

    So, what is the ram access period for the pentagon?
    I guess measured from "address placed on bus" to "data available from RAM"? Are there examples of the memory access diagram showing the relationship to the clock?

    I think the MGT boys found using streams & channels for GDOS RAM access too difficult to implement. That's why we have POKE @. The Opus system is much more flexible....

    It is pretty hard to understand why Amstrad did not change RAM access in black ZXes and RAM is still contended. Timings are anyway different than in original 128k. There is really no magic in RAM logic used in Pentagon.
