    ZXpand for the ZX81. On the Amstrad, if nothing else, you could get a floppy drive emulator that takes SD cards.

    I would go as far as saying they are [I]identical[/I] in terms of 12v apart from the floppy drive.

    None of the circuitry that uses 12v changed between the +2A/+3 and the +2B/+3B so they should have identical 12v power consumption.
