No, its not possible to redefine keys, but finally you get used to them. Its a very challenging game, little nice puzzler as you said, and this is just the first game writen by these people :) -

I just realised that you can redefine the sinclair interface to whatever keys you like using the emulation era magic of Spin, so now I have worked out how to really enjoy this game! Amazing how much better it feels without the keys all in a line. -
