You could use the SeaChange ROM in place of the standard BASIC ROM. That would give you RS232/Network support and access to divIDE via the NMI button. That's the only workaround though. -

If you fix the edge connector issues you could probably use the RS232 and Network functionality by loading the Sea Change ROM in RAM.
