Rwap were my first port of call.
Nice idea about the ts1000 ( did they have a different keyboard layout ? ) but my safest bet is to do what speccy_abuser suggest, and just cross my fingers i get a good keyboard.

You could try extending the connector with some ribbon cable to reach the membrane but you'll have to fiddle a lot with soldering. Just because it looks ok doesn't mean it is. I once thumped my Spectrum+ keyboard in anger and it killed the keyboard completely, requiring a new membrane. The old one looked perfectly fine when I removed it though
