This is not necessarily true. There are multisystem VCRs with converters build in (e.g. Samsung SV-5000W ? approx. $ 380). Using this VCR you can watch your PAL tape on the NTSC TV. However, I am not sure if it can convert PAL input (other than tape). -

I don't think you need to worry too much over it Tobo. Most monitors nowadays have good refresh rates and is as such not much of an issue. I have a Samsung 17-inch monitor and have played Doom 3 , Far Cry, etc with no problems wotsoever. -
