There was an interview long time ago in The Games Machine with the Stamper brothers (who together formed Ultimate). One of 'em did all the coding, the other did all the artwork. -

Crash had a very extensive section about hardware. I suppose if you were into music and MIDI in those days Crash was absolutely the mag to buy.
And there was no other mag that could compete with the Oli Frey artwork on the cover each month. -

The odd thing about that 'artwork' is that it looks completely computer-generated but you would expect it to be a scan. Doesn't seem quite right to me although it's also how you'd perhaps expect the cover to look.
