Agreed. WAP was a terrible solution and had built-in obsolecience.
The 770 uses WVGA - 800x480 - and no horizontal scrolling needed for most sites. -

the problem is not scrolling at all but sprites. to achieve good speed i use preshifted sprites so ground objects like gun turrets needs 8 preshifted positions to be placed exactly. -

I agree - Turrican is one of those games that really should be played on the C64. Like with Uridium, the Spectrum version was a valiant attempt, but the lack of hardware scrolling doesn't do it any favours. -

Smoothness brings back memories of Stainless Steel, as the ads regarded its scroll as the "smoothest" in the industry, but anyway the scrolling zone was kinda narrow...
