The scart carries a composite video signal plus audio signals, so yes, it can be done. The modulator is entered by composite video, so you just need to bypass that one. Been done in the past. -

I found about 90% of tone sharpness by the screw was best.If you made it too shrill it would fail,I presume it would clip the signal somewhere. -

I think pin 6 is the composite signal output. If there is a low voltage signal there then its dead. Its about 3.5V with the menu screen on.
