There is a POKE which does exactly what you want. Try POKE 23736,181 (see Sinclair User issue 36, letters page)
It can be done via M/C as well - checkout $04C2 (tape SAVE routine). It is similar to $0556 (LOAD) in that you set IX and DE. -
