Hmm... its just a thought, but maybe u gould gather some ULA chips(and other functional pits and parts) from speccys that are otherwize disfunctional. Ppl oughto have some laying around garages and stuff. -

I think the problem is caused by a component overheated. The ULA is the first candidate, so you can check the chip looking for excesive heat.
