Another vote for replacing the plug, parts are cheap and you won't lose much cable length. Just remember to thread the wires through the outer case of the new plug before your solder it. :) -

Its not that simple unfortunately unless you have a TV that can display PAL, failing that something to convert the signal to NTSC
