    No, you can just buy a good quality Composite Video to VGA converter box (one that has an RF input). AverMedia make great converters for a reasonable price. However if you are after a clear picture then soldering is the best way to go.

    Yep the good old fashioned way! I'm thinking of investing in some more soldering tools for SMT etc. Will probably get some DIL soldering iron bits. I remember a great deal of frustration getting those chips out!

    Okie, bought the lot yesterday, gonna do the soldering over the weekend :) Also gonna check the rest of the faulty spectrums to see what might be wrong. Its about time to do that.
