I cannot tell you from memory, but if IC6-IC13 belong to contended memory, then yes, you can boot your Spectrum in 48K mode (with the trick I explained before).
And no, you don't need to remove any extra capacitor. -

Those are 4-bit samples played back through the AY, you don't get them in 48K mode. -
