I dunno, maybe an experienced tracker can guide you. As far as I know, sound effects are made with simple patterns containing notes and noise. That's how they are done in our game Infinity or in Columns. -

The latest test build of EightyOne works a treat under SoftWindows98 (although running on a 400Mhz Mac it's slower than the original machine). I think EightyOne just became my favourite PC based emulator. -
