So I still need to find a US power supply that offers the higher voltage DC out (higher than the 16K / 48K) that the Spectrum 128 requires. Anyone have any ideas of a compatible unit?

I use 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack stereo cable with no probs for my +3. Or u could try a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack mono cable if using a mono cassette player.

Am I right in thinking that the Amiga external drive is powered by 5v?
If so you can easily pick up a 2A power supply that will deliver up to 9v. Argos definetly sell them as I use them for all kinds of retro portables here. -
