    Is it some kind of monitor cable or something? It looks like it's tapping into three signals on the expansion bus, perhaps UVY?

    Not good source. CRT monitor Desk Scan 1402 has no composite inputm just RGB.
    Prices are very likely not for home user.

    Of course there are other brands, with composite PAL inputs too.

    There is always a carboot sale if you want a good monitor for your spectrum. I often see people flogging Philips RGB/Composite monitors and the like for a pound a go.

    Does your TV have multiple SCART sockets? I'd hazard a guess the cable needs RGB and usually only the first socket supports it.
