Nope, the Beta sure seems to be want that IM1 mode. I've just tried to run a TR-DOS routine while in IM2 with the vector pointed to a "EI; RET" routine. It didn't work.

Assuming the debugger has breakpoints and T-States set a breakpoint at the start and end of the IM2 vector - the difference in T-States will give you the number of cycles it took to complete. -
