    Real Spectrum can record AVI files. Press ALT+F11 and select "Start video recorder", then select the options (compression, video only or audio and video etc.) as you prefer and there you go. No extra codecs needed :)

    If I recall correctly they were just XOR'ed onto the screen. That is usually obvious by looking at what heppens when they overlap, but I can't check because it's denied dist.

    Just cos the game is 16k didn't mean that the graphics would be any slower... I'm sure you figured that one out.

    And yes, it's probably due to XOR'ing during the vertical retrace or pre-frame timing that does it.
