INSTRUCTIONS
There are two separate "plots" revolving around Batman's
deadliest enemies - The Penguin and The Joker:

1) A Bird In The Hand
The Penguin, having been released from jail, decides to set up
an umbrella factory in Gotham City, but (of course) is secretly
using it as a cover for his plan to take over the world with an
army of robot penguins! As Batman, can you shut down the factory
computer and prevent the world from getting the bird?

2) A Fete Worse Than Death
Robin has mysteriously disappeared, the only clue being a single 
playing card left behind by his kidnapper - the Joker! On the
flip side of the card is a message: "Robin heads for a fete worse
than death, the fuse is lit - so don't waste your time, follow
your nose and remember, there's no place like home! Boom! Boom!".
Can you unravel the mystery, save Robin and defeat the Joker?

The presentation on screen simulates a comic strip with Gotham
City and its inhabitants appearing in multiple overlaid panels.
Any text (clues, descriptions etc.) is displayed in caption boxes
in the appropriate panel. The player, as the Batman, has complete
freedom to move around and interact with the numerous locations,
solving puzzles en route.

By pressing down and fire together, Batman will enter the utility
screen. This displays all the objects which you have picked up
and also the control icons which are used to manipulate them.
(You can also change various aspects of the game's displays and
sound effects at this point). Batman's energy status bars and the
game completion percentage are also displayed on this screen. By 
moving the Bat-cursor onto the object and pressing fire, then
pressing the Utilise icon in the same manner, that object will
be used. ie. food eaten (energy increased) etc.

At the beginning let me specify that this is translated solution from 
one old (1989) Ex-Yugoslav computer games magazine "Svet Igara" (World 
of Games) originally written by Bojan Majer. I just translated it to 
English and copied the map. (these are the words of Milosh, author for 
Commodore 64 site, so bear in mind that there can be some minor 
distinctions to Speccy version- AlexLux)(story continues...)

I'll assume that you already know how the controls work in Batman as 
they are quite simple. I recommend studying the map before you start 
the game and you'll find it much easier to finish it. The first part 
is relatively easy, anyway. I will assume that every time energy drops 
on critical level you will use some food to restore it, use the mask 
and enemies will stop attacking then for a while and use trainers to 
gain speed, again just for a while. 

Penguin plot:

You start the game in Bat-Cave take all objects except grenade (it's 
basically a red haring) use batarang, and you will have weapon until 
the end of the game, then get out of the cave and pick up tools. Back 
to starting room use the tools to fix the computer, insert the disk in 
computer. Get out on the street. Get key then go to roof, take rope, 
right to doors and open them with lock pick next to it. Get in and 
find Lift key, take it and use it with lift to get down. Now find and 
get dart, then the game disk, now keep going north and east until you 
find an egg, take it and use rope on same spot, climb rope, use dart, 
get pass and use magnet on pass to get some points, get out of the 
factory. Go to another roof and get lamp, get down to streets get key 
and go to the doors to Penguin's mansion, open them with pass. Get in 
and use flashlight, find and Get Video Tape and go E, N, E, Unlock 
door with key, W, W. There should be a VCR in that room, use video 
tape with it and the TV screen should start displaying number 4. 
Go to location '3 steps to hell', now go N, W, W, N, there is trumpet 
in this room (haring, again), go E and insert game disk in Penguin's 
computer. Message 'computer stopped' should appear, congratulations 
you have just ended the first part of batman. 

Joker plot:

The goal of this part is rescuing Robin who is held captive by Joker 
at fanfare. It is essential to check out the map before you start the 
game, like part one you start your quest in bat-cave. Take light bulb 
and use it in the western room, take gas mask and lamp, exit cave and 
take and use batarang, go down. As soon as you touch the ground go to 
inventory and use gas mask, you must do it really quickly as you'll 
start loosing energy fast. You may take ears in same room to hear 
Robin cry for help, in order to use food in this part, first you must 
find and use teeth, so go and get them (check the map where to find 
them), now get sunglasses (use them in bright rooms so you can see). 
Now you can begin real work you must find and get wire cutters, when 
you get them start disabling clock mechanisms marked 1-10 on map. When 
you disable all of them Joker will appear in one location in unfair, 
find him and beat the s*it out of him and he will lave you a rope, get 
it, now get coin and go to the room with slot machine, keep using coin 
with slot machine until you get card, now go to the location where 
Robin is held (open doors with card, some doors are moving so you 
might want to nail them with hammer and nails), use Rope and finish 
the game.
