Title: Sir Lancelot z88 (v1.00) Author: Stephen Cargill (converted by Dominic Morris) Uploader: Dominic Morris Type: z88 Game Short: Conversion of the Spectrum game published by Melbourne House Sir Lancelot z88 is a conversion of the game of the same name for the ZX Spectrum 16k, it is similar in concept to Manic Miner (if you want to play that on your z88 get Garry Lancasters port) but due to memory constrictions doesn't look quite as nice, but it is fast! I first came across this game about 8 years or so ago - I'd just obtained my first 128k (the original one with the heatsink) and with it came a box of tapes, and on one of these tapes was a copy of Sir Lancelot - I loaded it up, and I was hooked - I'm not quite sure why I liked it so much, I think I just admired the way it fitted into just 9k of code, so when the time came to pick a new game to port, it was of course the obvious choice! The aim of the game is to ermm, pick up the flashing objects and progress onto the next level by reaching the "OUT" box before the time runs out..nuff said! This is my first z88 application so this time you get some menu commands, they are fairly explanatory, except that those on the options menu work only during the game, and redefine keys only works during the intro sequence! Once more, the playing area is too large to fit onto the z88 map area, so as is usual these days there are two methods of play - the full screen version which scrolls with Lancelot and the mini screen which squeezes the entire playing area onto the map area. Right, the preset keys are: Left - O Right - P Jump - Space Pause - H These movement keys can be redefined to suit your playing style/hand size! There is also a set of control keys which cannot be redefined: ESC - Quit back to intro from game TAB - Toggle screen size - mini/standard DEL - Toggle inverse background [These last two functions can be also accessed via the menu system] Sir Lancelot is quite a noisy game, with music and sound effects, these may be toggled on or off by using the Sound setting from the panel - this can be set at anytime and it will be immediately obeyed. Thanks must go to Garry Lancaster for the Installer which made this application possible (as well as for his help with DORs) Thats all, enjoy the game!
